Where ideas get tested in the real world
LIRG Labs are partner sites and programs where new tools and methods are tested under real operating conditions, then measured and shared.

What is a Lab?
A Lab is a real place where freight moves: a distribution center, a terminal, a yard, or a lane. A member opens the site for a set period. Researchers and solution partners run a pilot there.
LIRG designs the test, measures the results, and shares what we learn with members.
- Real sites, not demo rooms
- Clear before and after measures
- Results shared with all members

Four Lab programs
Each program focuses on one part of the chain where loss happens.
Faster, stronger checks at the gate
Driver ID checks, license plate and USDOT number recognition, and camera-based seal checks.
Visibility for trailers at rest
Yard tracking, secure parking, and alerts when a trailer moves without a plan.
Protection on the road
GPS and IoT trackers, geofencing, and alerts for route changes and unplanned stops.
Shared datasets and benchmarks
Anonymized data and open test sets, so detection models can be compared fairly.
How a pilot runs
Propose
A member or partner brings a problem or a tool to test.
Design
LIRG sets the goal, the measures, and the rules for data.
Run
The pilot runs on site, usually for 30 to 90 days.
Measure
We compare results against the baseline.
Share
Findings go to members as a field study.
Have a site we could learn from?
Host a Lab and get early results from tools tested in your own operation.
